Congratulations to the newest MBWA President, NAGE Attorney Araba Adjei-Koranteng!

NAGE attorney Araba Adjei-Koranteng was sworn in as the 2026-2027 President of the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys (MBWA) on September 15th.

Adjei-Koranteng has been a member of the MBWA, a professional bar association in the state, since 2014, when she first became a law student at New England Law | Boston, and has been working within the group to promote their mission of advancing justice and equality for all ever since.

The association has already accomplished much good for the Massachusetts community this year, succeeding in advocating for voting rights on the steps of the Massachusetts State House, encouraging voter turnout and civic duty among members, and planting trees in Roxbury to promote environmental equity.

"I look forward to continuing MBWA's legacy of supporting, empowering, and advocating for Black women attorneys across the Commonwealth while addressing the many issues that impact Black communities," said Adjei-Koranteng.

NAGE is extremely proud of Araba for her election to this incredible position and looks forward to watching the organization reach new heights at her helm.

"This honor is very well deserved," said NAGE National Executive Vice President Theresa McGoldrick, who is also an attorney. "This just goes to show how active and hardworking Araba and our legal team are both inside and outside of work."

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
