NAGE Members and Staff Assist in Playground Build

On Friday, March 31, 2017, NAGE President David Holway, along with NAGE staff and NAGE members, lent a hand to the Where Angels Play foundation as they constructed a playground in Dorchester, MA.  This playground was built in honor of Victoria McGrath, a survivor of the Boston marathon bombing who tragically lost her life in a car accident in Dubai.   

While the forecast of snow wasn’t ideal for construction work, the crew began work early to ensure that the playground would be completed.  The playground was built at the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester.  Beyond the structure, decorative tiles painted by friends and family of Victoria will adorn the space.  Some friends spent time reminiscing about Victoria while painting, “We only had her for a few years but they were a great few years.  Anything associated with Victoria brings positivity and we are very excited for this playground.”  Several of these friendships were forged through support groups for survivors after the bombing.  

Where Angels Play foundation was created after founder and NAGE Executive Board Member Bill Lavin had the idea to honor the 26 Sandy Hook victims.  Playgrounds were built in their memories, in areas that had been devastated by Hurricane Sandy.  The mission of Where Angels Play is “To create joyful places to play. To provide hope, recovery, and to "pay it forward" in supporting projects that reflect a return to family values across the nation. To be the light that comes after the darkness of tragedy. To bring people together in the spirit of community and love.”

NAGE Scholarships DOUBLING Number of Winners Apply NOW
NAGE has DOUBLED the number of $500 scholarships from 50 winners to 100 winners. That means you are significantly more likely to win this year.

NAGE is committed to helping our members and their families achieve their educational goals and dreams, NAGE is proud to announce the 14th Annual NAGE Scholarships program is now open.

This year 100 scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded in a lottery. NAGE has already helped 650 people and donated $325,000 for NAGE scholarships, we believe that YOU should take advantage of this opportunity.

Applicants for the lottery drawing scholarships must be planning to attend or already be attending a two- or four-year college, graduate school, trade or technical school to be eligible.

Scholarships are available to members of NAGE, IBPO, Trial Court, IBCO, NAGE EMS and IAEP, and the member's spouse, child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or significant other. The application, which is available by clicking the link below, takes about 3 minutes to complete and is the easiest scholarship application you will ever fill out.

Scholarships will be awarded without regard to the sex, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, or disability of any applicant.

Remember the news that several Massachusetts state workers volunteered to go to Washington, DC to help that city dig out after a massive snowstorm in late January? NAGE members were among that group of volunteers who braved the snow and shared their expertise with the people of our nation’s capital. You can learn more about them in this video!
