NAGE Rainbow Caucus

The Rainbow Caucus was founded in April of 2024 under NAGE Unit 6, Local 282 to represent the specific and unique needs of LGBTQ+ members within the union and their workplaces. The Caucus is led by steward Eddie Gorry and meets regularly to discuss important topics to LGBTQ+ members.

Current projects include:

​

  • Creating a resource guide for LGBTQ+ workers (coming soon).

  • Planning social and networking events for LGBTQ+ union members.

  • Tracking and addressing workplace concerns from LGBTQ+ members in order to hold our employers accountable.

  • Partnering with local LGBTQ+-serving organizations to provide workshops and educational opportunities for members.​​

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
