Your Voices Turned the Tide on GIC!

Thank you to all who took the time to tell Governor Healey that we will not sit back and allow the proposed GIC plan changes to wreak havoc on our health insurance. Your collective voices worked: Governor Healey heard you loud and clear, and the GIC has voted to delay the vote on these changes as the governor considers rolling back the proposal!
We also want to thank everyone who took the time to reach out to their legislators to ask them to support our legislative allies, Senator Nick Collins and Representative Tackey Chan, who spearheaded a campaign of letters that were sent to the governor yesterday in opposition to these changes.
With your help, Representative Chan and Senator Collins were able to get 60 members of the House of Representatives and 21 Senators to sign onto these letters respectively. This huge outpouring of legislative support would not have been possible without your advocacy. We are so grateful for all of our legislative allies who signed on!
This is a huge victory for all state employees: it shows what we can achieve when we all band together to make sure our leaders work with us instead of against us. Actions like this only help to make our union stronger and keep your rights in the workplace protected.
We will continue to keep you informed on what comes next as Governor Healey takes a closer look at what GIC management was proposing. In the meantime, we encourage you to call the Governor's Office once again at (617) 725-4005 to thank her for her consideration and once again emphasize what this potential increase could mean for hardworking families like your own.
We remind you that the Governor's Office has previously shut off their answering system after 5pm, so you may only be able to leave messages during the daytime as long as it does not interfere with your working schedule.
Once again, thank you for all of your efforts on this. We truly could not have accomplished this without you.
