The IAEP Stands In Support of Local 20 EMS Professionals

YONKERS, NY - The International Association of EMTs and Paramedics (IAEP) stands in full support of the EMS professionals of Local 20 Empress Ambulance. Local 20 is comprised of dedicated, highly trained emergency care providers who are relentlessly committed to delivering professional support to their fellow first responders as well as providing the best care to their community at all times. Every call they answer presents a unique, serious situation in which these heroes must respond with speed, accuracy and poise; a call involving a fellow public safety hero who has been injured is, of course, no different.

The IAEP cannot comment on the overall situation involving an EMT in a tacticial operation in Sullivan County, as it involves ongoing investigations on a number of levels. We believe that the proper process and investigation should continue forward as it is currently, and that the truth of the matter will come to light.

We would, however, like to make it abundantly clear that it is our understanding that initial investigations into the situation show that no member of Local 20 was asleep during such a serious situation. Additionally, we believe there are other mitigating circumstances that will be discovered through continued investigation.

We once again remind the public that the focus of EMS professionals of Empress Ambulance remains wholeheartedly on patient care. The job of an EMS professional is to provide support for community members in the face of danger, tragedy, adversity, uncertainty, and nearly every other moment of need. Simply put, these individuals put their lives on the line to serve others each day-- they know this community and they’re proud to serve its patients.
