As you know, NAGE has been at the forefront of the fight to preserve telework, supporting the Healey Administration's effort to continue hybrid schedules despite various secretariats' plans to reduce telework schedules. NAGE supports the positive impact that hybrid schedules have had on our members.

Earlier this week, a former lieutenant Governor published an op-ed in the Worcester Telegram attacking telework for State Employees. Reading his words, NAGE was outraged by the false information that was being put out to the public regarding telework.

"Telework for state employees has saved the Commonwealth millions in downsizing the footprint of state government and exorbitant real estate leases," stated NAGE National Executive Vice President Theresa McGoldrick in an interview with CBS's Jon Keller. The CBS news segment can be found below.

Telework has also brought our members a better work/life balance, and a general increase in productivity when they do not have to commute into the office. NAGE has found that often times, members are completing more work since they are able to accomplish so much while being uninterrupted while working remotely. We will continue to work to preserve your hybrid work schedules whenever possible.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
