On September 25th, the swift actions of several NAGE/Trial Court members at the Springfield Superior Courthouse saved the life of a jury member.
Court Officer Norris noticed that a juror had their eyes closed for a prolonged period of time and went to check on his wellbeing. It became immediately apparent that the juror was in dire need of medical attention, and none of the Court Officers hesitated to react.
The court room was cleared and prisoner secured within moments, and CPR started immediately.
Thanks to their quick actions, an AED machine was produced and the juror defibrillated twice. EMS arrived to escort the juror from the courthouse, at which time they were awake and responsive.
Follow up from their medical provider uncovered a major artery blockage. Without the unflinching actions of Court Officers Kenneth Norris, Alex Collazo, Jeremy Borgatti, Jake Lane, Jake Belanger, Joe Budnick, and Assistant Chiefs Tiffany Tyson and Steven Frey, the juror would have lost his life.
Join us in thanking these members for their swift life-saving actions in the face of extreme duress!
