Congress Introduces Bill to Restore Collective Bargaining Rights to Federal Employees

BREAKING NEWS: The Protect America’s Workforce Act, a bipartisan bill that aims to overturn President Donald Trump’s executive order that stripped federal worker bargaining rights, was introduced to congress this week.

The bill, introduced by Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) and Jared Golden (ME-2) on Tuesday, would reverse the March 27 executive order titled “Exclusions from Federal Labor-Management Relations Programs” that eliminated the right to organize for hundreds of thousands of federal workers in more than 30 agencies.

NAGE and several other labor unions are asking union members and supporters alike to call their members of congress to voice support of the Protect America’s Workforce Act.

Supporters are encouraged to call 844-896-5059 to express their desire to get this passed and restore the fundamental freedom of all workers.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information is made available.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
