Atlanta PACE Receives City Council Recognition

For the first time in Atlanta, GA labor history, a union has been recognized for hard work and dedication to the members they serve.

The Professional Association for City Employees (PACE) Local R5-050, led by Local President Gina Pagnotta, has been recognized for their "unwavering commitment to fighting for fair compensation, reasonable working hours, {and} safe working environments" by the Atlanta City Council.

In a proclimation signed by the entire City Council, the Local is also being praised for their efforts to foster a collaborative environment between labor and management, "engaging in constructive dialogue," and "working toward shared goals {that} has results in tangible improvements in pay and working conditions."

Congratulations to President Pagnotta and the Local's leadership team for your outstanding work on behalf of your members!

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
