Aug 07, 2017   |   Back to News Commonwealth Agrees to Reimburse Counsels Thanks to the efforts of NAGE leadership, lawyers who work as Counsel I, II, and IIIs, as well as DOR Tax counsels, will now be fully reimbursement for their annual bar registration dues, retroactive to 2015.

“We are truly pleased with this agreement,” said Theresa McGoldrick, president of NAGE Local 207. “The Commonwealth made a blatant violation and we are happy to see it resolved.”

“The affected Counsels will finally receive the reimbursements owed them” added Greg Sorozan, president of NAGE Local 282.

The union filed an unfair labor charge at the Department of Labor Relations (DLR) in August of 2016, alleging that the Commonwealths’ failure to fully reimburse eligible lawyers their Board of Bar Overseers’ dues was a violation of the Unit 6 Collective Bargaining Agreement and an unfair labor practice.  The DLR agreed that NAGE had shown cause that the Commonwealth had committed an unfair labor practice by not paying the full bar dues and issued a complaint.

Under the recent agreement, the Commonwealth will reimburse eligible Counsels for the annual bar registration fees going back to 2015.  You can see a copy of the agreement here.
