TPL Team Meets to Review Questionnaire Responses

September 7, 2007

The TPL team, whose members are listed below, met Wednesday, Sept. 5 to begin the process of analyzing the Commonwealth’s proposal for defining underlying positions for TPL employees. In this preliminary meeting, the team reviewed the more than 300 responses to the TPL questionnaires that employees completed online at the NAGE state web site. (If you have not yet completed the questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible by clicking this link.) The TPL team will meet again Sept. 24 to continue the questionnaire review process and to further analyze and plan a response to the Commonwealth’s proposal.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why is the Commonwealth establishing “underlying” positions?
The purpose of creating “underlying positions” is to establish a salary floor, below which a TPL employee cannot be paid. In other words, it will guarantee that your salary will never fall below a certain level. For example, if it’s determined that the salary attached to your “underlying position” is $65,000, you can never be paid less than that amount. If you’re currently making less than that, you will receive a salary increase; but, if you’re currently making more than that, your salary will stay the same—it will not be lowered.
  2. Are we still going to receive our regular annual pay raises?
Yes. The negotiations regarding underlying positions are completely separate and distinct from the regular pay raises you receive each year. You will receive those pay raises again this year, retroactive to July 1st. As soon as we have information about when those raises will be implemented, we will post that information here.
  3. I filled out the questionnaire, but no one got back to me. What should I do?
Because we received more than 300 questionnaires, we cannot respond to individual questions. If you asked a question on the questionnaire, and it requires an immediate response, please send an email to tpl@nage.org.
