Legislative Committee to Hear Group 4 Bill on July 27

The Joint Committee on Public Safety will consider Senate Bill 1134, the Trial Court Group 4 bill, at a legislative hearing in Room A-1 at the State House on Monday, July 27, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Joan Menard (D-Fall River) and NAGE National President David J. Holway, would designate the following as members of Group 4: associate probation officers, probation officer, assistant chief probation 3 officer, probation officer-in-charge and day reporting center probation officer, first assistant 4 chief probation officer, court officer 1, court officer II, assistant and chief court officer, associate 5 court officer and court officer- in-charge

The reclassification would put these Trial Court employees in the same retirement classification as police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, and parole officers.

The NAGE Trial Court local executive boards will attend the hearing, along with NAGE Legislative Director Ray McGrath.
