Pat Lavery was born in County Galway Ireland and graduated Morristown High School in Morristown, New Jersey. He is an alumni of Black Hills State University Spearfish, San Diego and Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI. Lavery was a member of the 1970 Black Hills State University Football team (filed goal kicker), played semi-pro soccer for the Rapid City Kickers, and played Irish Football for the Connemara Gaels in New York. He is employed by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division in Newport, RI that is a Science and Technology Laboratory. He is the co-developer of a full spectrum “Torpedo Employment Trainer” that is on each Navy submarine which allows the crew to train on all elements of Torpedo employment. He redesigned the Navy Torpedo Maintenance Training in 1989 and was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Civil Service Award.

Lavery has been President of NAGE Local R1-134 of Newport, RI for over 10 years now. The local’s major wins include a two million dollar settlement with the agency on violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and an over 100% increase in local membership since becoming president.
