William Lane, born and raised in Charlestown, MA started working for MDC (Metropolitan District Commission) in 1979 which became MWRA (Massachusetts Water Resources Authority) in 1985. After 36 years working for MWRA, he is presently the Operations Supervisor.
Lane became a steward for the union in 1980 and MWRA formed local R1-168. He became Executive Vice President of the local in 1992. In 2001, he became president of the local and currently still holds the position. He has been a member of the National Executive Board since 2002.
William has been married to his wife Maureen for the past 38 years and has three children and one grandchild Arya. He enjoys fishing and hockey in his spare time and just started playing in a hockey league this year.
We can either have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few; but we can't have both.
