NAGE would like to congratulate Local R3-07 President Debbie Knox and all Local members for being recognized as the unsung hero's of their community.  We admire the amount of work you put in for these children, we are proud to work alongside you!

As the nation commends Basketball Icon LeBron James for his contribution to the education of his hometown’s youth in  Ohio, there are countless  unsung heroes across the country who also are working toward the betterment of their children.  For Example:  The National Association of Government Employees Union Local R-3-07.

NAGE LOCAL R3-07 are Public Safety Communication Operators whose role is to expedite emergency and non-emergency calls for service for District of Columbia citizens.  Their center, located in Ward 8 is a 24 hour, 365 day operation.    Our  city is experiencing  growth in population which requires additional resources. With that being said a public safety personnel’s role is no doubt, integral and crucial to the well-being of the  nation’s capital.

Upon election, NAGE R-3 07 President Debbie Knox discussed  with the membership the desire to conduct outreach in the Ward in which they operate. After brainstorming about how they could further make an impact, Secretary of NAGE R-3 07, Carolyn Morris suggested that NAGE  embark on an education initiative . Said Ms. Morris, “ Nurturing and investing in our youth ensures a better today and tomorrow for all of us.”   Realizing that many of our schools have needs and would welcome support ,  NAGE membership endorsed Morris’ initiative electing to partnership with the Moten Elementary School  located at 1565 Morris Road, S.E.

Since 2016, without the assistance of corporate sponsorship,  NAGE R 3- 07 has supplied the Moten Elementary school students with supplies,  uniforms and coats.   President of NAGE R 3 -07 said, “It is a blessing to assist the children. We in public safety want to reveal to the children that we are more than a voice, more than a call."  Adding, “Seeing their face light up is a joy.  We want them to know that there are many positive role models in the community."
