NAGE, Meiselman endorse Becca Rausch for State Senate
Local 5000 of the National Association of Government Employees, the largest union in North America, recently endorsed Becca Rausch, progressive Democrat for Massachusetts State Senate in the Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex District.
Becca Rausch is an elected Needham Town Meeting Member and an attorney with over a decade of experience in both the private and public sectors, including serving as a union steward and a lawyer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She also received the endorsement of former Democratic challenger Colin Meiselman, who dropped out of the race and threw his support behind Rausch earlier this week.
“NAGE/IBPO/SEIU Local 5000 represents over 22,000 public employees in Massachusetts, and we believe in the dignity and worth of all workers,” said David Holway, national president of NAGE. “As a union steward and a lawyer for the Commonwealth of MA, Becca has demonstrated that she shares our values and is dedicated to creating a more just and humane society. We are proud to stand with her for her primary election.”
“Becca Rausch is by far the most qualified Democratic candidate [in this race] and most likely to be able to make a real difference for the people of our district,” said Meiselman. “She has the tools to help move Massachusetts forward.”
As State Senator, Rausch will prioritize progressive social policies. Her platform includes broadening access to quality, affordable health care and advocating for innovative approaches to addressing the opioid epidemic; supporting public schools and efforts to create safe, healthy learning environments for all children and improving public transit infrastructure and expanding services to provide better access to more riders.
