John Mann, local president of NAGE Unit 1/MassDOT Unit A, was sworn in by Governor Charles Baker to the Massachusetts Workforce Development Board (MWDB) in a ceremony at the State House on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
NAGE National President David J. Holway had the opportunity to nominate Mann to the board seat thanks to the collaborative efforts of the NAGE legislative team of Ray McGrath and James Redmond. Mann has more than 30 years of experience in working with the unemployed and job seekers
Mann said that he is looking forward to working with the governor and his administration and emphasized the importance of the new board, stating, “Every union should prioritize investing in a quality workforce development program.”
The MWDB is tasked with advising the governor in regard to the state’s plan to provide employment services to the public. NAGE is proud to have one of our leaders on the board to help develop strategies to guide the state’s efforts in strengthening the skills of our workforce and creating a more prosperous Commonwealth.
