Lawrence Court Officers Prevent Brawl

On Monday, January 23, 2017, a Lawrence courtroom was safely evacuated by court officers after an outburst from a family member of a victim.   Tony Ventura had entered the courtroom, charged with first degree murder in the killing of his girlfriend, Maria Morton.

According to the Essex DA’s office, a family member of Morton’s jumped over the divide, attempting to charge Ventura.  Court officers were able to intervene and no one was harmed.

Please join us in recognizing the swift response of Local 458 members Gary Leveque, Michael Britton, Michael Oliver, Rick Roaf, Donnie Moore, Angel Torres and Ryan Dugan. “These officers, and all court officers, work in potentially dangerous situations every day, “stated Local 458 President Dori Medeiros.  “They deserve our thanks.”
