IAEP Rides with Muddy Angels to Honor Fallen EMS Heroes

On the cold and rainy morning of Saturday, May 12, 2018, IAEP Local 95 members gathered outside Boston’s City Hall Plaza for the opening ceremony of the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride’s East Coast Route. Hosted by an organization called Muddy Angels, the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride has long-distance cycling events across the US and Canada.

Each year, the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride honors current EMS professionals and those who have been injured or lost their lives in the line of duty. This year the ride memorializes 79 fallen EMS heroes.

From Worcester EMS, Paramedics Flavin, Grant, O’Hearn, O’Neil, Johnson, Pim, and Ring are joined by Captain Westberg and Chief Haynes in riding over 550 miles to arrive in National Harbor, Maryland, on Friday, May 19, 2018.

Along the way, riders stop in Yonkers, New York, where they were greeted by IAEP Local 20 members at Empress EMS. Local 20 has generously donated a mechanic to make any adjustments needed to the bicycles. Empress EMS also hosted an event for the riders, footage of which can be viewed here.

The IAEP wishes a safe ride to all 2018 National EMS Memorial Bike Ride participants!
