EMS Union Leaders Meet in Florida

An IAEP training conference was held for Florida IAEP union leaders on Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, May 26, 2016. The turnout for the two day conference was excellent, with leaders from almost all of IAEP’s Florida locals present. The attendees, which included stewards, officers, and members from the area, met to discuss union business and receive training on various labor matters. The conference was a great place for IAEP staff and members to meet one another, collaborate, and network with other area locals.
IAEP National Representative Ken Skaggs, who worked diligently to organize the event, scheduled some very well-received guest speakers, including Commissioner Sue Putnam from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) and a representative from the National Labor Relations board (NLRB). Presentations from National IAEP Director Phil Petit and Chief Negotiator Dick Anderson on topics including union direction, NAGE charities, mediation, arbitration, local leadership, and contract negotiations were helpful for all who attended.

With the success of this training conference, the IAEP looks forward to holding more similar events in the future!
