On December 2, 2008, there will be a run-off election between Democrat Jim Martin and Republican Saxby Chambliss, the incumbent senator from Georgia.
It is so important for all of members to go out and vote in this election. The union has endorsed Jim Martin because of his record for working people. He will help President-elect Barack Obama get our economy back on track and make the economy work for the middle class again.
Of moving the economy foward again, he has said, “I think that starts with helping Barack Obama succeed, not undercutting him for partisan advantage or to protect special interests. And that's the difference in this runoff election. I will do everything I can to help Barack Obama change Washington and get the economy moving again. That starts with standing up for the middle class taxpayers who are bearing the brunt of the economic crisis and telling them the truth about what is happening. I'm going to help Barack Obama cut taxes for the middle class and get rid of tax breaks for companies sending our jobs overseas, and instead use that money to help create jobs right here in Georgia and all across America. I'm going to do everything I can to help Barack Obama get off to a fast start and Saxby Chambliss has promised to do everything he can to stop Barack Obama from succeeding.”
We cannot let the senator we elect from Georgia stand in the way of progress and change that this new presidency may help us achieve. We need to elect Jim Martin on December 2nd! Please go out and cast your ballot! Get your communities, churches, and schools out to vote. Together, we can make our country the best it can be!
