Atlanta IBPO Local Honors Officers For Saving Fellow Cop

IBPO staff in Atlanta and the leaders of Local 623 recently honored officers who saved the life of a fellow officer who had a heart attack.

On July 23, an officer in Zone 3 fell to the floor, lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Sergeant Celeste Holloway, Andrew FincherOfficer Andrew Fincher and Officer Henrietta Smith rushed to his side and performed CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene. Paramedics said that they believed the officer would have died on the scene had it not been for the actions of Holloway, Fincher and Smith. (The officer survived and has retired on disability.)

Local 623 President Scott Kreher, IBPO Georgia Director Dennis Hammock, and a slew of staff, members and guests honored Holloway and Fincher for Celeste Hollowaytheir actions with a ceremony at Zone 3 (unfortunately, Officer Smith was unable to attend). The IBPO presented the officers with plaques and gift certificates as a show of appreciation.
