“STEP UP” in Macon!
Standing Together Equals Power! Unite People! Members of SEIU in Macon who work for the City, Bibb County and Bibb Board of Education are Stepping Up to rebuild their union with the help of some project organizing staff, Cathy Nelson and Carolyn Simmons.
Cathy, Carolyn and volunteer member organizer Paul are out talking to union members to see what they want our union to be focusing on in their workplaces. There are lots of different problems including health and safety issues, management trying to get people to work off the clock, lack of raises, costs of insurance and more. We do want to hear from YOU about what our priorities should be!
We are having a Macon Chapter Meeting on Saturday morning, June 6 at 9:30 am at the IBEW Union Hall on Patterson Street. All members are urged to attend as we will be talking about where we go from here.
We need to put together a better structure for our organization and will be planning local union elections for each of our Macon area employee groups.
We are looking for good dedicated members willing to Step Up and take a leadership role in our union. We will help you succeed! We will be having a Steward/Leadership Training on June 27, 2009 from 10 am to 4 pm IBEW Building on Patterson Street in Macon.
