Listen Up Dougherty County BOE!

At the Dougherty County Board of Education, they seem determined to reduce the pay of school bus drivers.

The BOE decided to put out a request for bids to hire a company to wash the school buses. The buses DO need to be washed, but WE should not have to fund it!

The Board wants to cut our pay and this is unfair. We got a memo from the Executive Director of Finance and Operational Services stating that we get paid 15 hours per year to wash our buses and when they hire outside help to do it, we will get our pay reduced by 15 hours during the year! We are talking about 5 minutes of our pay per day being taken away! For some of us that is $227 per year; for others it’s as much as $265 per year ... cut from our pay! This is an outrageous way to manipulate the budget.

Chapter President Mary Richardson says, ‘Transportation has a brand new system and it’s not a good one. In order to make positive changes we all have to stand up and step up.”

A petition is being circulated among School Bus Drivers and the BOE can expect to see some angry drivers at upcoming meetings and maybe on TV as well.
