NAGE Local R1-134 and R1-144 (FUSE) Donate to Local Charities

January 12, 2010

NAGE Local R1-134 and Local R1-144 (FUSE) donated $1,152 to the Veteran’s Home in Bristol, R.I. and $1,152 to Lucy’s Hearth in Middletown, R.I. as part of the unions’ annual Christmas charity drive.

These donations, made just before Christmas, were made possible by the generous contributions of the union membership and the raffles conducted at the union Christmas party.

The donation made to Lucy’s Hearth helped to provide Christmas for over 80 families and 150 children in the Middletown area.

In a letter received by the union, the Lucy’s Hearth Board of Directors stated, “We are extremely grateful for your support in our mission to help homeless women and their children.”

The veterans and staff at the Bristol Veteran’s Home were ecstatic to receive the donation and to talk to union representatives. The donations will be used to assist in providing for recreational activities for 221 veterans, many of whom have little or no resources.

A letter received by the union from the R.I. Veterans Home Administrator stated, “Gifts and donations such as yours open up many additional opportunities for the veterans and are enjoyed by all our residents.”

Making the donations on behalf the union were Local R1-134 President Patrick Lavery, James DiMarco, Debra Dube, Roger Talbot and Theresa O’Toole. (Missing from picture is Local R1-144 President Dale Dandrea and John Degozzaldi)
